After the Conferences held in Barcelona (1996), Paris (2000), Vienna (2004) and St. Petersburg (2008), the European Association for the Control of Structures (EACS) is preparing for its fifth European Conference that will be held in Genoa, Italy from June 18 to 20, 2012. As in the previous editions, the Conference will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of current research on Structural Control, Structural Health Monitoring and related topics. Research papers and case studies from European and International scientists concerning innovative developments and applications of smart materials and structures will also be welcome as well as bio-inspired control and monitoring techniques. A highly interactive and interdisciplinary audience is expected.

The city of Genoa is located in the middle of the well renown Italian Riviera and is one of the most interesting touristic sites in Italy. A former town-state from the early middle age to the end of XVIII century, Genoa still retains most of the attractiveness and splendors of the past times, with one of the largest historical centers in Europe. As the major Mediterranean port, Genoa has been for a long time one of the European financial and industrial capitals. The Aquarium, museums and many attractive buildings render the visit to the city an enjoyable experience.
The Conference will be held at Palazzo Ducale, the former residence of the Doge, the head of the Republic of Genoa, in the heart of the historical center. Genoa is connected by direct flights to Rome, Naples, Catania, Madrid, Paris, Munich and London. A two hours highway drive leads from the airports of Milan and Pisa to Genoa.
